Physician Billing and Coding
Physician Billing using the CMS1500. Through lecture and laboratory exercises, the student will learn aspects of multiple health care plans. This course work will also include information on legal and ethical issues, collection activities and numerous insurance programs.
Anatomy and Physiology I
This course presents an introduction to the structure and function of the human body, including basic cellular principles, the skin, skeletal tissues, joints, and the muscular system. Also included, is the nervous system cells, central and peripheral nervous systems, sense organs, and endocrine system. Medical terminology associated with the systems covered in this course is also included. Laboratory experiences are included in the course.
Keyboarding
This course is a performance based in program to build up speed ad accuracy on the alpha and numeric keyboards. Students will use a variety of softwareo improve their typing skills and increase their speed. The course is designed for the student to achieve a keying speed of 35cwpm.
Medical Terminology
This course is designed to introduce students to medical terminology that is associated the primary and accessory organs for the integumentary system, musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system and respiratory system. Students will be able to analyze, build, spell and pronounce medical words that related to each of these systems. Students will also be able to define selected abbreviations, explain diagnostic tests and use word roots to identify meanings of unknown medical words.
